Portrait and Biographical Record of Arizona

Created by Charles Miles on 7/6/2020. Updated on 3/24/2024.

A 1901 book by the Chapman Publishing Company of Chicago that presents biographies of prominent Arizonans - 'Commemorating the Achievements of Citizens who have Contributed to the Progress of Arizona and the Development of its Resources'.

Why particular Arizonans are included or omitted is lost in time so far from this volume's 1901 date - but regardless it is an interesting resource that presents short biographies includes some familiar names from Southern Arizona including Zeckendorf, Hughes, Samaniego, Wakefield, Ochoa, Redfield, Corbett, Fish, Aguirre, Guthrie, Roskruge, Reilly... Due to the nature of the book the biographies tend to be very flattering and favorable, this is not an objective critical source of information.

At least with the software I use this PDF is not good for Control-F style searching or copying text (although for specific names there is an index in the back which makes the book quite usable). Try the Google Play Books version if you want to search the text.
