National Park Service - Saved 3/6/2020
Public scoping for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and revised Backcountry Management Plan was conducted in 2011. The National Park Service (NPS) reviewed the 581 comments submitted, and analyzed, considered and incorporated the ideas and suggestions received during the scoping process into a range of alternatives to be analyzed in the Draft EIS.
The Backcountry Management Plan and Draft EIS was released for public review and comment in November 2015. Comments were accepted into April 2016. The document identified and assessed the various alternatives and related environmental impacts relative to park operations, visitor use and access, natural and cultural resources, visitor use and experience, park operations, adjacent lands and wilderness character.
