The 2018 Environmental Assessment for the purchase of 477 acres adjacent to the NE Corner of the Coyote Mountains Wilderness. This purchase was completed on Aug 14, 2020 when Rebuild America transferred the land to the Arizona Land and Water Trust - Arizona Land and Water Trust.

Prior to this land purchase there were several challenges to accessing the Coyote Mountains Wilderness:

• The King's Anvil Ranch has provided much appreciated access thru their private land which - in combination with Arizona State Trust Land - makes access to Mendoza Canyon possible. However there are restrictions on this access and no guarantee (that I am aware of) that even the restricted access is permanently available to the public.
• You could reach the NE edge of the Coyote Mountains wilderness on good dirt roads thru the Hayhook Ranch area - but there are no Pima County easements on the roads immediately adjacent to the edge of the wilderness and it is my understanding that (prior to this purchase) all parking was on private land.

While this purchase does not solve all the access issues in the area it does vastly improve the situation by providing legal parking adjacent to the Coyote Mountains Wilderness.
