East of Tucson between Vail and Benson Mescal Road turns north towards the Rincon Mountains. The road passes an old movie set as it winds north, eventually becoming Happy Valley Road.
Past blocks of private property it enters the the Forest Service land between the Rincon and Little Rincon Mountains, crossing Ash and Paige creek multiple times on the way to the Miller Creek Trailhead.

You can take the Miller Creek Trailhead miles into the heart of the Rincon Mountains - or, like we did today, you can linger in the lower part of the canyon and find a beautiful spot to sit and, with a little luck, enjoy the water and solitude.
