The Madrean Sky Islands, or Madrean Archipelago, is world biodiversity hotspot in northwestern Mexico and the southwestern United States. This ecoregion is named for the 57 pine- and oak-studded mountain “islands” it encompasses, each separated by desert and grassland “seas.”

At this point I don't know exactly what the original URL was pointing to - https://www.arcgis.com/apps/MapJournal/index.html?appid=50d9dfd6886a48038549cb71aced1e5e - but it was from long time Sky Island Alliance employee and leader Louise Misztal so on an update in 4/4/4026 I re-pointed this to a link to her maps even if the original has been retired...

The Cline Library of Northern Arizona University hosts the Harvey Butchart Collection, the maps and trail logs of famed Grand Canyon backpacker Harvey Butchart (1907–2002) who taught in their mathematics department. They have generously made the entire collection available on their web site. But they list his annotated Grand Canyon National Park topographic maps and USGS quadrangles alphabetically, by name, which makes them difficult to browse. So I have constructed the following index map — simply click on one of the orange boxes to open the map covering that area:
